Some hospital employees are able to take all scheduled breaks, knowing that our patients will be well cared for and that we will be able to get our work done for the day.
Others among us try to take care of everything so that our patients won’t need anything while our “buddy” covers our patients and theirs.
And then some of us just work through our breaks because there isn’t a safe alternative, or because there is just too much work to be done.
Sound familiar? It shouldn’t be this way. Everyone should be able to take their breaks without fearing for our patients, rushing to clean a room, or knowing that we just won’t be able to get our work done right!
