Community members tell Olympic Medical Center: Put patients first!

Community members stood together with nurses and healthcare workers in Port Angeles to give CEO Eric Lewis and the OMC Board of Commissioners a message: Put patients first.
We joined together at a community vigil to tell the hospital that when it comes to patient care, we’re counting on them to do the right thing.
Community members turned out to support us including Bob Zindel from the Clallam County Labor Council, Nelson Cone representing the Veterans for Peace; Anami, Proprietor, The Caffeinated Clothier; Timm Kelly President of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 997,and Barry Burnett, President of the Port Angeles Education Association.
“You are the backbone of the hospital; without you we have no hospital. And as a member of this community, I stand behind you, along with thousands of other community members, in support of your fight for a fair contract!”
Sandy Oliver, Community Member
“Good benefits and proper staffing levels are more important to patients than expansions and glossy finishes. OMC should put patients first and show some respect for the nurses and healthcare workers who care for us.”
Anami, Proprietor, The Caffeinated Clothier
“You are always there for us. You are the ones we are counting on to save our lives. OMC should make sure to do the safe and right thing and have enough staff.”
Ernie Griffith, All About Pizza
Hundreds of community members have signed a petition in support of putting patients first and urging the hospital to settle a fair contract that includes enough nurses for every patient, every time. A full page advertisement with our community petition ran in the January 15 edition of the Peninsula Daily News.
