Dr. King and other advocates for civil rights and workers’ rights shined a light on the connection between strong unions and long-term social and economic justice. Unions have played a major role in facilitating workers improving our own economic well-being by improving working conditions, raising safety standards in the workplace, and carving a path to the middle class. Dr. King stood with workers in our struggles for justice and fairness on the job.
We will continue to honor Dr. King’s legacy of civil rights and economic and social justice by working to join together all working people, union and non-union, in a movement to fight for justice for all. On Monday, we honor and remember his legacy of struggle and progress.
