A Stronger Voice at Work
New. Improved Joint Labor Management Committee Meets every other month, with a union co-Chair. Subjects that can be discussed include staffing and workload issues.
New Orientation time Our union delegate will orient new employees to our contract and our organization in a 15 minute time period.
New. Voluntary contributions for candidates and politics. This
allows members who want to support our political program to voluntarily
donate through payroll deduction. This helps us to keep strong ties
with elected leaders, and fight for real healthcare reform.
Bulletin Boards and Meeting rooms. Each unit/department will have a union bulletin board, and the union is authorized to have union meetings at the hospital.

Wages & Premiums New. Weekend Premium of $.75 hourly, effective date of ratification.
Weekend premium increases to $1.00 hourly effective November 1, 2008.
Signing Bonus (Retroactive Pay.)
A
lump sum equal to 2.5% of all paid time to each employee for all of
2005 and 2006 wages, paid no later than December 20th. Each lump sum,
in a separate check, is calculated on your W2 paid time (includes
overtime, sick, premiums and vacation paid time)
Wage Increases.
A
minimum of 2.5% new across the board wage increases, ( on top of the
3.5% received in March 2007), effective date of ratification. Some job
classes have a higher market adjustment to reach for SEIU hospital
standards. New rates are attached with percentages.
This is a minimum of 8.5% wage increase ( not including step raises) over three years.
3% across the board increase November 1, 2008.
3% across the board increase November 1, 2009. Contract expiration October 31, 2010.
Shift
premiums: Evening shift to $1.10 at date of ratification. Standby pay
is increased to $2.75 at date of ratification, to $3.00 hourly on
November 1, 2008.
Improved Rest between shifts premium: Now
matches the nurses, with 10 hours rest break, and time and one-half
(1-1/2 time paid as penalty for all hours worked without 10 hours rest.
Medical Benefits New hires enrolled in medical plan the first month after hiring. ( matches all other hospital employees)
As
of January 1, 2008, we will join with everyone at the hospital under
the new medical plan, and pay different rates (some lower, some
higher), exactly the same as other hospital employees.
The
employer agreed to look at the Personnel Employees Benefit Board (State
employees’ Plan) with us to ensure we are getting the best plan for our
dollar. Move to the new plan possible as of January 1, 2009.
NO PTO and EIB Benefits Plan. Our team held the line on agreeing to no changes in our sick, holiday and vacation time.
Healthy and Safe WorkplaceNew language on employer’s role in treatment for workplace hazards: HepB and Hep C exposure vaccinations.
TB exposure control program with annual PPD screenings.
Agreed to a Drug and Alcohol free workplace language, with reasonable cause testing.
The
employer recognizes that alcohol and chemical dependency are chronic,
treatable diseases, and recommits to an Employee Assistance Program.
