Members Ratify Our Contract
Mary Reynolds, RN, OB,
Executive Board
“Is this a victory for us? Yes, it is! Did we want more? Of course we did! Given what management’s takeaways were and the OMC financial fiasco, this settlement, in our opinion, was the best we could accomplish. We have members getting wage increases that are guaranteed from 9-10% in less than 21 months. OMC’s1 Million Dollar cuts won’t be from our wages. Thanks to everyone for their support.”
On Tuesday, January 29 our members ratified a new 3 year contract in
both our bargaining units. Our Service unit members voted in favor of
ratifying our contract by 90% of the voting members. Our Nursing unit
members voted in favor of ratifying our contract by 97% of the voting
members. This means that our contracts are now in effect and the pay
raise occurs with the next full pay period.
Summary of Contract Agreements
Members of the Bargaining Team have copies
of a comprehensive summary of the contract agreements as presented at
the vote meetings.
MEDICAL BENEFITS Challenge: Management wanted to eliminate benefits that only SEIU members have at OMC.
Results: - Maintained 8% cap on premium increases for spousal and dependent older child insurance coverage.
- Guarantee to not change PEBB plan for length of contracts
- Limited
out of pocket costs for 10% co-insurance for hospital services and
co-pay for hospital stay to maximum $100 per quarter year. Otherwise,
costs could be up to $3000 per family per year. Example: OMC will waive
co-insurance on hospital services or co-pay for overnight stays after
the first $100 for each quarter of the year.
JOINT BARGAINING IN 2010 OMC agrees to bargain the RN/LPN and Service bargaining units together at the same table at the same time.
