Pooling Our Resources
All of us pay dues to cover our share of the cost of building an effective organization.
Dues are
1.5 percent of your gross monthly pay, with a cap of
$75/month.
For employees who are involved in organizing the union at their facility for the first time, there is no initiation fee. For employees hired after the union is formed, there is a one-time $30 initiation fee. (Under state law, employees at state facilities don’t pay the fee.)
Dues cannot be increased unless a majority votes to approve a change.
Dues pay for our education and training programs, negotiating contracts, our district newsletters, office expenses, and salaries for officers and a full-time staff who provide research, organizing, communications, and legal support for the union.
