Notice of Nomination and Election for Delegates to the SEIU International 2024 Convention

Nomination of Delegates:  The SEIU International Convention will be Monday, May 20, 2024 – Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. SEIU Healthcare 1199NW expects to have 26 delegate slots and 7 alternates’ slots at the convention. Each of the seven elected statewide officers serves as a delegate by virtue of their office. We expect to have 26 open slots. Nomination forms for the remaining delegate positions will be available on February 26, 2024, and must be received at the SEIU Healthcare 1199NW headquarters by 5:00 p.m., March 11, 2024. Statewide officers serving as delegates by virtue of office for SEIU Healthcare 1199NW include the President, Secretary-Treasurer, both Executive Vice Presidents, and our three Vice Presidents. 

Election of Delegates: Nominees for delegate positions, if unopposed, shall be deemed elected without necessity for further procedures. 

If there are more nominees than positions, an on-site, secret ballot election will be conducted on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the SEIU 1199NW office in Kent, WA:  19823 58th Place South #200, Kent, WA, 98032. 

If you wish to vote but cannot attend the polling location in person, please email election@seiu1199nw.org no later than 5:00 p.m. March 13, 2024 for an absentee ballot. Voted ballots must be received at SEIU Healthcare 1199NW headquarters no later than 5:00 p.m. on March 26, 2024 to be counted. 

Qualifications for Delegates: To be eligible to serve as a delegate, you must be a member in good standing (signed a membership card and be current in dues) of SEIU Healthcare 1199NW since February 26, 2023 (unless one has joined through new organizing or through a restructure less than one year prior). 

Duties and Responsibilities of Delegates: Convention delegates are responsible for representing SEIU Healthcare 1199NW at the SEIU International 2024 Convention in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania including serving on committees, participating in debates and votes on policy resolutions, voting for International Officers and Board members, and attending the SEIU 2024 Convention events.
