We took action for our patients and won!

New improved staffing grids will be phased in starting June 1

 Patients at Cascade Behavioral Hospital deserve a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment in which to heal and recover.  Nearly 150 nurses and healthcare workers at Cascade went on strike a year ago to fight for our patients and to win improvements to our staffing levels that ensure patients get the best care possible.

Since then we have held management accountable by filing staffing grievances with the CEO and by pushing management in our staffing committee meetings to agree to our proposed improvements to Cascade’s core staffing grids.

Our action worked. On Wednesday in our staffing committee we reached an agreement with management to improve our core staffing plans on every unit of the hospital. Cascade management agreed to increase the number of nurses and CNAs on the floor by 9% overall and by 30% and 33% in the units where we were most understaffed!
