A message from Jane Hopkins, RN, our union’s president:
I stand united with all of you in expressing my outrage and grief at today’s Supreme Court ruling ending protective status for Haitian and Syrian members of our community. This decision upholds the Trump administration’s unconscionable policy that threatens the lives of thousands of our friends, family, and neighbors.
No matter where we were born or what we look like, we all deserve the opportunity to pursue a better life for our families. Yet the Trump administration has once again chosen to tear families apart because of its racist, divisive agenda.
I know that many members of our union family are deeply hurting today, in the Pacific Northwest and across the country. While we’re still studying the full impact of the ruling along with community partners and our International Union, we are prepared to take action for immigrant rights and stand ready to assist any impacted members.
