At Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC), we provide a wide range of services to the most vulnerable members of our communities who may be experiencing substance use disorders, mental illness, or homelessness. By standing together and persevering, we achieved real commitments to make our workplace safer and more equitable with better training and wages to make this work more sustainable. Some highlights include more protections for workers, wage increases to recruit and retain, full participation in the Healthcare Training Fund, and the inclusion of many new positions into our bargaining unit (adding over 120 members).
